Fall Fashion Report from the north by willowday: Up here at 59 degree North, there is clearly something happening: Scandinavian designers have all gone wild for black and white animal prints this season.

Swedish sisters Malin and Maria Holmberg, started “How to Kiss a frog,” in 2008.  Their collections are simultaneously, ultra romantic and feminine with an unusual amount of frills, lace and flowers, but at the same time, oh, so, positively Swedish modern.

By now, you must know Swedish Mini Rodini but, the question is: do the Swedish have Moose and Polar Bears? Take notice natives: this season it is your distant black and white cousins’ time to take a turn on the cat walk.

 

Zebra tees at Shampoodle

Leaving drumming behind, Swedish Helene returned to Stockholm and in 2006 began Shampoodle with a track suit. Shampoodle’s clothes seek to bring “pleasures of an urban life style. Party or play, a Shampoodle outfit works for both. ” This “Zebra” is encouraged to come out and play: “Mixing and matching with others, welcome!”

Danish designer and founder, Sofie Schnoor’s Petit by Sophie Schnoor, grew from the desire to “see the child and not the label.”  In 2007, she asked her mother-in-law to start knitting,” and Petit by Sophie Schnoor was born. Sophie’s collections are built on simple, clean looks in soft colors.

 

 

 

Limited Edition Tee by Anna Kleeberg for Tuss

Tuss works each year with one or more artists to do a limited edition tee shirt. This year, Anna Kleeberg, brought Brazilian inspiration in the “horse” tee. Tuss founder and designer Catti Åman’s designs very high quality clothing in gender neutral colors with an aesthetics that allow children the chance to express themselves without the label already dictating it.
