Well, we finally got into Easter preparation mode today and made some Ukrainian Easter eggs. Well, we made our own new style but did use all the special techniques… (which I will post later).

And I came across these very easy and effective Easter baskets made with Rice Crispies, no less. I found them on this nice blog called Lil Luna. Take a look and get the full recipe!

Creamy Stovetop Mac ‘n Cheese

Winter finally arrived in NYC these last couple of weeks. And this Creamy Stovetop Mac ‘n Cheese is just the kind of comfort food I have been compelled to rustle up these days. I’m not a winter babe at all, but it’s sweet to hibernate and eat heartier foods. And this recipe takes a few minutes to make, so right up my alley. I always think I’ve seen the ultimate cookie but these Hot Chocolate Cookies might just take the cake! I’m known for loving chocolate and everything to do with chocolate and hot chocolate of course, so I can’t think of a better cookie. You even get the marshmallow on top.

If you are wanting to make these, you can find the whole recipe right here at Averie Cooks!

Still trying to top that one as far as unexpectable!

When I lived in France, Tarte Tatin was one of my very favorite desserts. And well, ours tasted pretty much the same even though it was perfectly neat. I don’t know why I never made one of these before. I guess I always opted for American Apple Pie. This was somehow easier because of no upper crust, so, we’ll be making another one very soon.

Bootiful Halloween Cake

bootiful_halloween_cake_2

Well, I’m really taken with this Bootiful Halloween Cake! The little ghosts on top are so cute and effective and have their own little, simple expressions, created with so little – just three little dots. And of course, in keeping with the goriness of Halloween, the centre just must be blood red, so good it’s one of my faves: Red Velvet Cake. And the ganache dripping over the sides of the marshmallow icing is to die for. I would almost be sad to cut into these little critters. But I guess I could get over it…
