Jean Paul Gaultier has introduced a couture line for children adding to his prêt-à-porter label he started in 2009. Launching for spring/summer 2014, the range will be updated every six months.
His first designs for the new line were inspired by the finale dress from the spring/summer couture 2013 collection – when the styles were first seen, as little girls appeared from underneath the model’s voluminous gown (see below). The mini tulle dresses – available in ivory and pink – have silk bodices and an accompanying bolero adorned with Swarovski crystals. A limited run of 90 pieces have been produced in each colourway, and went on sale recently, priced at $1,200 each. The theme is Princess all the way. And at that price, you might have to actually be a princess or the mother of one to have that in your budget!
Available at places such as Harrods, if you are in London, Harvey Nichols in Dubai and Princess in Cannes.
