Now here’s one for the boys. My husband actually showed me this and I have to say, I found it fascinating even though I’m not a Gundam fan. And your little Gundam fan might already be aware of this but in Tokyo a year ago, the company that owns the Gundam franchise constructed a life-sized replica of the well-loved character (now 30 years old) which stood 59 feet tall. Here’s a cool Youtube video of it in action. They brought the statue back recently, but in pieces so people could take a good look close-up and personal in this new exhibition in Tokyo that just ended – sorry about that.

So, if your little boy missed out on the exhibit, now for the next best thing. This is a not quite life-sized version but at least life-sized for a human the size of that little Japanese girl. It is available here  but don’t faint when you see the price. You could say it counts for his birthday present for the next five years or so! Or you could go for this more modest version.
