Playtime New York, August 2014 Highlights – Part 1

Playtime New York this weekend was an exhibit of how far the children’s fashion industry has come and where it’s going. The quality and imagination of the labels has reached an all-time high. From young designers just out of fashion school, to veterans of the industry, the identity of who they collectively are and what they represent and what they are passionate about has never been so palpable. To be around this kind of development and evolution of the aesthetics of kid’s fashion is very exciting to be a part of.

And guess, what? I have always been a friend of Playtime and now it’s official! See below.

And of course, here is a little taste of what went on.

First, some new designers…

Laingo

This fresh brand from Bordeaux Laingo, is run by the designer and her mom. A graduate of Esmod fashion school in France, Laingo brings us sweet styles for very young girls and not so small in delicate prints and comfy cuts.

Another fresh new designer label, Ashira is the brainchild of recent Parsons graduate, Chelsea Slocombe. Very feminine and simple florals and whites for girls.

And some other offerings that really caught my eye…

Audacious Belgian brand, Gold really delivers what they promise. A lot of gold and cool graphics.

More Belgian boldness from Maan with these fearless color combinations and unexpected ensembles.

Mon Petit Atelier, comes in with very strong season of gorgeous little French finesses and retro inspired beautifully tailored jackets.

Tuchinda presented some of their expected high quality Asian/New York fusion in muted colors matched with super brights.

everbloom

Everbloom, forever letting girls be girls,  has added layers to their graphics and getting stronger every single season.

Huge 70’s flower prints and super fresh. eclectic cottons in very wearable styles from California label, Frankie &  Sue.
